Sadly, this preowned Used Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 SP XR Di II - Nikon F Mount (Has Fungus in the lens) S/N - 033370 has fungus in its elements. However, it still delivers good image quality with a softer portrait look. The previous owner used it professionally for portraits in Nightclubs. To be sold as is.
It makes for a small, light, fast and affordable package. It is a high-speed, wide-to-moderate-telephoto zoom lens designed for Nikon DX DSLR cameras with smaller sensors. The 17-50mm focal length range (is equivalent to 26-78mm in the full-frame 35mm format) and you have a lens that is just right for many DSLR camera owners.
Tamron has named its new 17-50mm f/2.8 lens the ‘SP’ label, indicating Super Performance, which puts it into the professional product category. It also bears the Di II designation, indicating a second-generation, digitally integrated lens designed for use with ‘APS-C-sized’ sensors. The rubber on the zoom ring is grippy, soft, and deeply ribbed. The zoom and focus ring turn smoothly.
Construction of this lens consists of 16 elements – including two hybrid aspherical elements, one LD (Low Dispersion) glass element and one XR (Extra Refractive) element – arranged in 13 groups. The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture is maintained throughout the zoom range. The lens focuses internally by moving groups of elements within the lens. Users can fit angle-sensitive polarising and graduated filters without re-setting them whenever the focus or focal length changes.
These lenses are not designed for conventional 35mm film cameras or digital cameras with image sensors larger than APS-C size (24mm x 16mm).
Internal focusing (IF) provides numerous practical benefits to photographers, including a non-rotating front filter ring that facilitates the positioning of polarising and graduated filters and more predictable handling because the lens length does not change during focusing. Even more important, Tamron’s Internal Focusing (IF) system provides a much closer minimum focusing distance (MFD) throughout its entire focusing range. In addition, IF improves optical performance by minimising illumination loss at the corners of the image field and helps suppress other aberrations that become more troublesome at different focusing positions.
Another original Tamron mechanical engineering concept is the Zoom Lock (ZL). This simple convenience feature prevents undesired lens barrel extension when carrying the camera/lens unit on a neck strap.
This Tamron is for Nikon DX (APS-C) Cameras
The filter size is 67mm.
