The Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD Sony E (APS-C) is a large aperture everyday zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras offering a broad zoom range, excellent image quality and versatile f/2.8 maximum aperture across the whole zoom range. This lens focuses very close, featuring a minimum object distance of 0.19m at the wide-angle and 0.39m at the telephoto end for expressive images with highly blurred backgrounds. The small and lightweight design also includes Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) which utilises AI technology when shooting video for stable footage.
Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD Sony E (APS-C) features Moisture-Resistant Construction, Fluorine Coating and a φ67mm filter size – the same as the Tamron series of lenses for full-frame mirrorless cameras. RXD Stepping Motor for Precise Autofocus
The AF drive incorporates an RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit. The RXD actuator is able to precisely control the rotational angle of the motor, allowing it to drive the focusing lens directly without the use of a reduction gear. Additionally, a dedicated sensor senses the position of the lens to a high degree of accuracy - enabling both high-speed and precise AF which allows to maintain razor-sharp focus when shooting moving subjects or filming video.
