Sony's Real-time Tracking AF has been upgraded with a new AI processing unit, which provides faster and more accurate autofocus. The AI processing unit uses deep learning technology to process lots of image data, resulting in improved auto white balance accuracy.
Utilising the high resolution image sensor, the Alpha 7R V is capable of capturing stunning 8K HDR footage at 24/25 frames per second and 4K 50/60p movie recording in full-frame format. 4K (QFHD 3840x2160) 30p/25p/24p with 6.2K oversampling without pixel binning in Super 35mm format is also made possible.
The new 4-axis LCD monitor can be changed in both tilt and side directions, affording great functionality for high-quality photos and videos with the multi-angle screen or the top-notch 9.44 mil dot QXGA EVF.
Alpha 7R V's Mode Dial has been redesigned to the two-tier design, as seen in the Alpha 7 IV. The bottom dial shifts between Stills, Movie, and S&Q. While the top dial changes the mode. This design allows fluid and fast in-the-field changes between photo and video mode.
The camera is further enchanced with an upgraded 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system which delivers up to 8.0-step stabilisation, two Dual CFe-Type A & SD Card media slots, up to 10 fps burst with AF/AE tracking, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO, SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2), UVC/UAC USB streaming, dust and moisture resistance, a new anti-dust system with shutter-close when off and a reliable mechanical shutter.

Upgraded Pixel Shift Multi Shoot
The Imaging Edge Desktop™ PC app detects Pixel Shift Multi Shoot images and applies corrections for minor shifts, e.g. people, clouds and foliage. Pixel Shift Multi Shoot enables images to be taken at 240.8 megapixels with improved RGB accuracy.
Multi-resolution and multi-RAW selection
The Alpha 7R V offers a range of RAW file selections, including Compressed RAW, Uncompressed RAW and Lossless RAW. Lossless RAW is capable of reducing file size without compromising quality (50-80%), whereas Uncompressed RAW offers full-frame options of 26MP and 15MP and APS-C scan options of 26MP and 15MP.

AI has drastically increased AF acquisition for Human recognition with "human pose estimation", which detects more than just faces and eyes, allowing accurate autofocus even if the subject has sunglasses, a helmet, or is facing away. AF Subject Recognition now includes Insects, Airplanes, Cars/Trains, Humans, Animals and Birds for both Stills and Movie mode.
Upgraded Image Stabilisation system
The Alpha 7R V has a 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system which provides 8.0-steps of stabilisation. With an improved stabilisation algorithm and a precise gyro sensor, it can accurately detect and control even the smallest details, making the most of its 61.0 megapixel resolution.
