The 1.25" aluminum legs provide stability without being too heavy and have spiked feet for sure footing, low-profile twisting leg locks, and a black scratch-resistant anodized finish. Finally, since it has a standard 3/8" mounting bolt on its top plate, you can also use this tripod with a wide variety of mounts and photo heads from other manufacturers.
