The Vixen Artes J 8x42 ED DCF Binoculars are designed to produce the exceptional image quality that one would expect from an optic made in Japan.
Performance begins with the use of extra-low dispersion (ED) glass for the objective lens elements and BAK4 glass for the roof prisms. Next are anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics, and phase-correcting and highly reflective prism coatings which work together to maximize light transmission, eliminate color fringing, and improve clarity and contrast across a field of view that approaches wide angle. All these features present the user with an immersive observational experience with bright and clear views with accurate color representation.
Key Features of the Vixen Artes J 8x42 ED DCF Binoculars
Extra-Low Dispersion Glass Objectives
Phase-Corrected Roof Prisms
Fully Multi-Coated Optics
Nitrogen-Filled, Water and Fogproof
Open-Bridge/Dual-Hinge Configuration
Lightweight and Strong Magnesium Chassis
Large Center Focusing Knob
Tripod Mountable with Optional Adapter
Twist-Up Rubber Eyecups
Optical Performance
Moderate 8x magnification allows for observing distant subjects without sacrificing exit pupil diameter, for easier use in low light
Moderate 42mm objective lenses provide improved low-light performance versus smaller-objective models, without adding excessive bulk
Compact BAK4 roof prisms deliver a round exit pupil, and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
Phase-correcting prism coatings increase contrast and clarity while eliminating halos and off-axis comas
Highly-reflective dielectric prism coatings transmit greater than 99% of light entering the prisms to limit internal light loss and maintain image brightness, contrast, and clarity
Extra-low dispersion glass corrects chromatic aberrations to produce accurate colors without fringing
Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics produce neutral and accurate color fidelity, and improves contrast and image brightness
56° apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to minimize the appearance of visible hand-shake that can distract from views
367.5-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
Open-bridge/dual-hinge configuration
Large textured center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate, even when wearing gloves
56-75mm interpupillary adjustment range enables easy use by a wide variety of users
Twist-up eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear or sunglasses
Tripod mountable with optional Vixen Type M adapter for hands-free use to eliminate hand-shake/vibrations and arm fatigue
Exceptional 19mm eye relief helps to reduce eye strain and improve viewing comfort
Wide 5.25mm exit pupil will completely cover pupils as they open and dilate as light fades
Construction Details
Bridge design helps to reduce weight without sacrificing strength or stability, and provides extra surface area for a more secure grip
Lightweight magnesium alloy chassis further reduces weight while maintaining the optic's durability
Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for waterproof performance in the rain, snow, and most other inclement conditions; and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes and environmental conditions
Protective rubber armoring provides a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold and wet weather
