It provides a focal length range from 28mm wide-angle to 70mm telephoto. Like all Pentax lenses, the SMC FA 28-70mm f/4 features an SMC coating to maximize light transmission and produces sharp, high-contrast images while minimizing flare and ghost imaging. It has pleasing Bokeh from the rounded 9-blade aperture.

The focus is smooth, and the aperture blades are snappy and oil-free. The lens is supplied with the front and rear lens caps.

It fits almost all Pentax K Mount Manual and Autofocus cameras and can be easily used with Pentax Digital Camera Systems, allowing for the cropping factor. i.e.Pentax Z-1, Z5, MV, ME, ME Super, Super A, Program A, Pentax LX, KX and also the later Pentax AF and DSLR models.
