Power
A xenon flash emits much more light in a fraction of a second than your phone's LED. This allows you to freeze motion and ensures you have enough light on your subject, even in a dark café or against the light. You get the best results within 2 meters of your subject. With high-speed sync, you keep a sunny background in the frame while the flash illuminates your subject.
Flash Modes
If you choose TTL, the app determines how much light is needed itself. With exposure compensation from -3 to +3 in 1/3 stop increments, you make the flash brighter or darker. If you want to control everything yourself, set the power manually from 1/1 to 1/128, also in 1/3 stop increments.
App
In A mode, the Godox Camera app automatically adjusts the exposure and lets you choose from three flash effects: Natural, Even, and Contrast. In M mode, you set the shutter speed, ISO, and white balance yourself, and choose between TTL and manual power. You pair the A2 with your iPhone via NFC; after that, the connection works via Bluetooth, even when the flash is detached from your phone.
Color Display
For video or if you prefer working with continuous light, turn on the LED ring. Use the buttons to choose from four fixed color temperatures: 2800, 3200, 4500, and 5600 K. In the app, you can adjust the color temperature steplessly and set the brightness in increments of one percent.
Mounting
The A2 is magnetic on both sides. The back attaches to your iPhone, but also to a metal surface or a tripod, allowing the light to come from the side or from above. You attach the included diffuser cap or the light modifiers from the Godox AK-R1 MINI Accessory Kit for Round Flash Head to the magnetic ring on the front. With the separately available PS01 phone holder, which rotates 360 degrees, you can easily switch to selfies.
