The Canson Somerset Enhanced Velvet White 330GSM (610mm x 12m) is a mould-made, 100% cotton rag digital fine art paper produced at St Cuthberts Mill in England where the artisan papermakers use a traditional cylinder mould to create the look and feel of a handmade paper. St Cuthberts Mill have been making paper since the 1700s, and today manufacturers the Somerset Enhanced digital fine art range.
The Somerset Enhanced Velvet has a fine grain texture which accentuates the detail in the final image, and the natural white base, which contains no optical brightening agents, adds vibrancy and depth to colour, excellent contrast, and very deep blacks.
The proprietary inkjet coating guarantees superb image quality and longevity, which is essential for both limited and open edition digital fine art prints.
Somerset Enhanced Velvet is pH neutral, 100% cotton, does not contain OBAs, and features a natural white shade that is coated on one side with good water resistance to deliver superb finished prints. This archival grade paper is buffered with calcium carbonate to combat acid attack that finished prints may encounter from air pollution. Printed results have excellent tonal separation throughout the range, minimal ink spread and are almost instantly touch dry.
Somerset is a traditional printmaking paper which has been used by artists for a range of time-honoured techniques such as intaglio, etching, stone lithography, silkscreen, relief printing and letterpress. The same traditional fine art paper is now available for photographers, printmakers, and artists alike to reproduce digitally their original artwork as a limited edition by using the Somerset Enhanced digital fine art papers.
