digiDirect Trade-In Terms & Conditions


1. Eligibility & Identification

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in a trade-in.
  • Identification: In accordance with Australian Second-hand Dealers laws, you must provide two forms of identification, one of which must be a valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or Passport).
  • Ownership: You must be the legal owner of the equipment and have the right to sell it. digiDirect reserves the right to refuse items with suspicious origins.


2. Equipment Condition & Evaluation

All gear submitted for trade-in must adhere to the following standards and will undergo an in-store evaluation.

  • Working Order: All gear must be in full working condition. digiDirect generally accepts digital cameras, 35mm film cameras, lenses, and flash units.
  • In-Store Inspection: Valuations are not finalised until a staff member physically inspects the gear. They will assess:

Details

Functionality

Shutter count, sensor cleanliness, and mechanical operations.

Cosmetics

Scratches, dents, and grip wear.

Optics

Presence of fungus, haze, or scratches on lens elements.

 

  • Accessories: Including original batteries, chargers, and caps may increase your trade-in value.

3. Valuation & Credit

  • Trade-In Credit: digiDirect offers trade-ins as a credit toward a new purchase and does not offer direct cash buyout.
  • Quote Validity: Quotes provided are only valid for the same day, as market values for used electronics fluctuate frequently. The final valuation will be confirmed upon inspection.
  • Market Value: You acknowledge that trade-in values are "wholesale" valuations to allow for refurbishment and resale, and may be lower than private sale prices.

4. Finality of Sale

  • Transfer of Ownership: Once the trade-in is processed and the credit is applied to your new purchase, the transaction is final. The gear becomes the property of digiDirect.
  • Data Removal: It is the customer's responsibility to remove all memory cards and perform a factory reset to wipe personal data/settings before handing over the device.

5. Returns on New Purchases

  • Refund Policy: If you return the new item purchased using a trade-in credit, the trade-in portion of the refund will be issued as a store credit or gift card, not cash.
  • Returning Trade-In Gear: Once a trade-in is finalised, digiDirect is under no obligation to return your old equipment if you change your mind about the new purchase.
