This lightweight, compact EF-S series ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is designed to take advantage of the short back focus and a smaller image circle of the Advanced Photo System C-size imaging element. It meets all the demands of both ultra-wide-angle zoom photography and lightweight compactness. The optical system, comprising 13 elements in 10 groups, uses only environmentally friendly lead-free glass. Using three aspherical lenses of two types (replica and moulded glass) and one Super UD lens ensures outstanding picture quality across the entire zoom range. At the same time, the optical design and coatings have been optimised to reduce flare and ghosting, which are common with digital cameras, resulting in sharp images with excellent colour balance.

Light and compact for its focal length range, EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM boasts an incredibly close minimum distance of just 24cm for finite detail. The round diaphragm provides exquisite bokeh (blur effects). The internal focusing system with its ring-type USM is quick and quiet, while the full-time manual focus enables manual focusing even in autofocus mode. The lens mechanism is designed to fit only EOS DIGITAL SLR cameras compatible with EF-S lenses, and it is equipped with a special attachment indicator and a protective rubber mount ring to prevent mistaken attempts to attach it to other EOS SLRs.

The EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens features a ring-type USM that syncs with your camera to deliver super-fast, predictive tracking.
