Since the release of the first-generation PEN film camera in 1959, the PEN series has been loved by photographers for its compact, lightweight design and versatility across a wide range of shooting styles, from serious photography to capturing moments of everyday life. The PEN unlocks a wide range of expressive possibilities unique to interchangeable-lens cameras, empowering everyone from seasoned photography enthusiasts to those just starting out to capture and enjoy images with creativity and confidence.

A design that inspires you to take it everywhere and keep shooting—dust- and splashproof and equipped with an electronic viewfinder.

The PEN is the first camera to be introduced under the PEN name by OM SYSTEM. With a rangefinder-style design that has been loved for generations for its everyday usability, the PEN features a design that is both timeless and modern. Although the overall aesthetic focuses on straight lines, this camera also incorporates firm, curved surfaces that fit comfortably in the hand, balancing a premium feel with a secure grip.

It is also compact and supremely portable, making it easy to carry in everyday situations or on a journey, and is equipped with an electronic viewfinder for better visibility and usability when shooting. Users can enjoy the unique process of shooting with a camera, looking through the viewfinder while adjusting the aperture value and shutter speed to achieve the image they want.

This model is also the first camera in the PEN series to feature IPX1-rated1 splashproof performance and a dustproof design. Sealing materials are incorporated at key points throughout the camera body, allowing photographers to shoot with confidence even when faced with sudden changes in the weather.

In addition to design aesthetics and portability, the PEN offers excellent shooting performance. The TruePic IX image processing engine, 20.37 million effective pixel Live MOS sensor, and high-resolution M.Zuiko Digital lenses deliver excellent image quality. The PEN also features 5-axis image stabilisation compatible with all mountable Micro Four Thirds System standard lenses, greatly enhancing hand-held shooting with up to 5.5 stops2 of stabilisation at the centre and up to 4.5 stops2 at the edges.

Colour & Monochrome Profile Control for film-like tones and creative expression.

A selection of presets inspired by colour and black-and-white film makes it easy to explore different photographic styles. Photographers can create colours and textures that reflect their individual preferences, from giving city streets a nostalgic feel to creating a soft, delicate atmosphere or capturing striking monochrome images. Preset effects can also be previewed and adjusted through the viewfinder while shooting, making it easier to develop an individual photographic style. The Profile Control Switch on the front of the camera provides quick, one-press access to this function while shooting. Profile Control can also be applied when shooting video, with the exception of S&Q mode.

Colour Profile Control

For colour photography, the saturation of 12 individual colours can be adjusted across 11 levels to achieve the desired tones. These adjustments can also be combined with Highlight & Shadow Control or shading effects for an even wider range of creative expression. Four presets are available: “Film Rich Colour” for rich, deep tones; “Film Vivid” for vivid saturation and rich colours; “Film Soft Tone” for light, soft tones; and Standard (Natural).

Monochrome Profile Control

Users can combine five effects essential for black-and-white photography, including Colour Filter Effect, Highlight & Shadow Control, Shading Effect, Film Grain Effect and Tone Effect, to create distinctive monochrome images.

Four presets are available: Film B&W, which uses a film grain effect; Film IR, which emphasises the red colour filter effect for an infrared film-like look; Film Low Contrast, which reduces contrast for a softer impression; and Standard (Monotone).

Computational photography features for creative expression powered by digital technology

Compositing techniques that would typically require post-processing on a computer are available directly in- camera thanks to computational photography. With the PEN, photographers can explore new creative possibilities using digital technology, from dramatic landscapes and cityscapes to capturing flowing water with a smooth, silky appearance.

The dedicated CP button provides quick access to computational photography features. Press and hold the CP button while turning the Control Dial to select from the following shooting functions: Tripod High Res Shot, Handheld High Res Shot, Live ND (ND2-16), Focus Stacking, HDR (HDR1 and HDR2) and Multiple Exposure.
