The Tiffen 77mm Glimmer Glass MCS Magnetic Filter (1/4 Density) is a diffusion filter for portrait and beauty shots that helps soften skin details, blemishes and wrinkles. It also produces glowing highlights and a mild reduction in contrast for a more ethereal appearance. The grade 1/4 diffusion provides a close to minimal amount of softening and overall image alteration. It provides a more cinematic look to stills and video when using digital cameras. This glass filter features a sparkling appearance when viewed from the front, which models may find appealing.
This filter is part of Tiffen's Magnetic Control System (MCS) which allows filters to be swapped instantly rather than being slowly and tediously unscrewed and screwed in like conventional filters, saving valuable time when shooting in the moment. Each filter includes a magnetic mounting ring that allows it to quickly and securely attach to the front of a lens with no tools required. The separately available MCS step-up rings can adapt to the filter threads of almost any lens for added versatility. The filter set comes with a magnetic front cap to protect the filter and lens, plus a rear magnetic cap to protect the filter when not in use.
