The 85mm f/1.4 GM II benefits from a massive leap in focus motor technology, moving from the powerful but aging ring drive SSM motor to the latest XD Linear motor. This technology shift enables the lens to be used for the most demanding and dynamic applications, from fast sports action at 120fps on the Alpha 9 III to smooth focus transitions on-set with the FX6.
