The OM SYSTEM LH-66E Black Lens Hood prevents light incident from the side from being reflected by lens or mount parts and thus reaching the image sensor or eyepiece. This can lead to considerable impairment of the image, such as optical overlays or unsightly light spots.
Because the hood extends and darkens the end of the lens, the lens hood prevents light entering from the side from entering the lens. Another benefit of the extended lens is the added protection from accidental impact.
