Product Description

The Hoya 62mm ProND EX 8 Filter reduces the amount of light passing through the lens by 3 stops. When shooting video outdoors, you can set shutter speeds to match your frame rate while maintaining the depth of field you want. When shooting moving objects, you can achieve a motion blur, making the image look more cinematic. For photography applications, the filter lets you use longer exposures or achieve a shallow depth of field in bright sunlight.

The ProND EX 8 filter uses Hoya's ACCU-ND technology to prevent a colour shift to deliver consistent image quality. ACCU-ND ensures equal light reduction in both visible and IR spectrums so that you don't experience colour shifts when shooting in different outdoor conditions. The filter features 62mm threading on both the front and rear sides. Additional ND filters can be stacked on the front or attached to a threaded lens cap or other filter.

About ND Filters

Neutral density (ND) filters are the most demanded and essential type of photographic filter because of several reasons. For photographers, an ND filter means precise control of the amount of light passing through the lens for greater creative control over exposure. For video content creators ND filters help to set shutter speeds to match the frame rate while maintaining the depth-of-field of the footage.

Light density filters will lower the shutter speed on a bright sunny day to allow you to reduce the depth of field in very bright light or use a wider aperture to stay below the diffraction limit. For example, these filters are necessary to shoot with your fast lenses like f/1.4 or f/1.2 with aperture wide open for softer and more beautiful bokeh. Middle-density filters will help you to add motion blur to the object in conditions that generally will not allow the camera shutter speed to do so. If you are for more creative shots that are based on extremely slow shutter speeds - deep-density filters are to be suggested. ND filters like ND1000 will help to capture a dramatic unreal fantasy world that cannot be seen by the human eye.

Colour Shift Issue Solution

HOYA offers its exclusive and wide lineup of ND filters branded into the PROND EX series for photographers and filmmakers. PROND EX filters adopt HOYA's clear optical glass that is mounted into a lightweight, precisely crafted aluminium frame. The frame has front filter threads so you can attach additional filters or a lens cap.

Thanks to ACCU-ND technology that puts HOYA ND filters far ahead of other brands the image undergoes no negative effect from colour shift that may occur due to low-quality materials, poor manufacturing QC, or issues with leaking of the Infrared band of the light spectrum. The last problem is the most important nowadays in photography and videography.

HOYA's exclusive ACCU-ND technology achieves equal reduction of the light in visible and IR spectrums. As a result, the photographer may not fear any issue with colour shift when using HOYA ND filters in different shooting conditions.
