DigiDIRECT and Olympus are proud to introduce the latest in Micro Four Thirds Cameras, the Olympus PEN EP-3.

The Olympus EP-3 may look very similar to the EP-1 and EP-2 that came before it, but with some pretty significant changes. Physically the biggest addition is a built-in pop-up flash. The hand grip is removable giving users the choice of removing or replacing for a more substantial design.

 

Internally the camera’s processing has been greatly improved. The latest TruePic VI processor is much faster than previous designs, allowing the camera to check focus 120 times per second. This allows it to adjust focus more often and confirm focus more quickly. The EP-3 now houses a dual core processor allowing image processing and live view to be run parallel which, decreases the blackout time after each shot.

 

The PEN EP-3 now has a new touch OLED Screen. The touch screen can be used to set the focus point and optionally fire the shutter as well as several other operations. Another very welcome addition is a built-in autofocus illuminator light, in the form of a bright orange LCD on the front of the camera. Movie recording has been significantly upgraded to capture full HD 1080i60 movies in AVCHD format.
