The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens is the ultimate in high performance standard zoom lenses


The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens' build and mechanical quality are top of the line. The solid 24-70 L lens focuses quietly and very fast thanks to Ring USM (Ultrasonic Motor) that also facilitates FTM (Full-Time Manual) focusing.

Focus and zoom rings are nicely-sized and operate smoothly. Weather sealing (when attached to a weather sealed body) completes the physical quality package.  The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens is an extremely sharp zoom lens. The 24-70 L series Lens uses two types of aspherical lens elements and a UD lens element to correct the magnification type chromatic aberration often seen at wider-angles, for outstanding picture quality.

While pictures from the 24-70 L are very sharp, the excellent contrast and saturation are fantastic for all photography applications. Very little contrast and saturation post-processing is necessary on most shots taken under good lighting conditions.

The 24-70 L lens has a Maximum Magnification of .29x at 70mm. Adding 12mm and 25mm extension tubes take it to .63x and 1.25x respectively. The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens' 77mm filter diameter makes sharing filters such as a circular polarizer filter with most of Canon's other L-Series zoom lenses easy and more affordable of course. Filters attached to the 24-70 L do not rotate with focusing or zooming.
