Panasonic wins plaudits for its DMC-GF1K Mr. DigiDirect | Thursday, November 12, 2009No comments

The Panasonic DMC-GF1K entry level digital SLR camera is winning cirtical acclaim, especially when compared against its main 'class' competitor, the Olympus EP-1.

Where the EP-1 is branded "sluggish" by one CNET reviewer, the Panasonic DMC-GF1K has quickly earned a reputation as a high quality photo taker that is comfortable to transport.

In most triallists' opinions, the only way up from the Panasonic DMC-GF1K camera, in terms of shooting ability, is upgrading to a fully-fledged DSLR. The cost of which is usually the burden for buyers in this 'class'.

digiDIRECT.com.au is currently selling the Panasonic DMC-GF1K camera, along with a Lumix G Vario 14-45mm Lens Kit, for an Australian-certified low of $1,299. Click here to see and buy the Panasonic DMC-GF1K camera.

JVC close to perfection with Everio GZ-X900 HD Video Camera Mr. DigiDirect | Wednesday, July 01, 2009No comments

The JVC Everio GZ-X900 HD Video Camera is a video camera with specs a layperson would dream about. Camcorder laypeople will be aware that a good HD video camera should have high-end resolution. And digital camera laypeople will be aware that a good digital camera should have high megapixels.

The JVC Everio GZ-X900 HD Video Camera boasts high-end 1080p resolution full HD resolution and as a fast-action still camera, it offers 9 megapixel shots at 15 fps and 5.3 megapixel shots at 60 fps.

Sony HDR-XR500V is more from the inside Mr. DigiDirect | Friday, June 12, 2009No comments

From the exterior, nothing seems to have changed on the Sony HDR-XR500V compared to its predecessor, the Sony HDR-SR11. But the inside does tell a slightly better story.

Firstly, it has a new sensor (Xmor R) which allows for back illumination. Secondly, it features Sony's usually-high-end G lens, which offers 12x optical zoom. Thirdly, the image stabilisation feature on the Sony HDR-XR500V is far better than what was produced on its predecessor.

Derek Fung of CNET writes: "During our brief walk and shoot test, it produced unerringly smooth footage despite our best efforts to walk with an awkward gait and shaky palm."

Panasonic DMC-TZ7-K digital camera selling like hotcakes Mr. DigiDirect | Saturday, May 16, 2009No comments

Panasonic has made a serious splash in the camera game with the stylish Panasonic DMC-TZ7-K digital compact camera, and our customers at DigiDirect have spoken with their wallets by spending many stimulus dollars on this as a purchase!

With features like 12x optical zoom, 10.1 mega pixels and HD (High Definition) video recording, one could be fogiven for confusing the Panasonic DMC-TZ7-K for an entry-level SLR camera. One could be forgiven for expecting a bulky piece of hardware.

The fact is, the only thing big about this camera is a 3.0 inch LCD screen, which allows you to view the brilliant pictures it takes.

Nikon D5000 raises the bar Mr. DigiDirect | Monday, April 27, 2009No comments

The new Nikon D5000 is available at DigiDirect.com.au and early reviews suggests the digital slr will prove a hit for users of all capacity.

Nikon Australia is advertising the product, designed to sit between D60 (taking over as entry-level dslr from the dying D40) and the slightly better D90, as a camera for the everyman. The Nikon D5000 ad campaign (see below video) suggests using it is not dissimilar to "child's play".
